It is the way in which manufacturers and producers of the products or goods sell their products globally without any restriction.  It provides huge profits to the businessmen as they get low cost labour in poor countries easily. It provides a big opportunity to the companies to deal with the worldwide market.

Globalization helps to consider the whole world as a single market. Traders are  extending their areas of business by treating the world as a global village. However, during the 1990s there was a pressure from the rich countries on  the poor and developing countries to allow them to spread their businesses by opening their markets. In India the globalization and liberalization process was started in 1991.

After many years, globalization brought about a major revolution in the Indian market when multinational brands came to India and started delivering a wide range of quality products at cheap prices. Prices of good quality products came down because of the cutthroat competition in the market.

Globalization and liberalization of the businesses in India have flooded the market  with quality foreign products but has affected the local Indian industries adversely to a great extent resulting in the job loss to poor and uneducated workers. Globalization has been a bonanza for the consumers, however, a loss to the small-scale Indian producers.

Globalization has had some very positive effects on the Indian consumer in all sectors of society. It has affected the Indian students and education sector to a great extent by making study books and a lot of information available over the internet. Collaboration of foreign universities with the Indian universities has brought about a huge change in the field of education.

Globalization of trade in the agricultural sector has brought varieties of quality seeds which have disease resistance property. However, it is not good for the poor Indian farmers because the seeds and agricultural technologies are costly.

It has brought about a huge revolution in the employment sector by the spread of businesses like cottage, handloom, carpet, artisan carving, ceramic, jewellery, and glassware etc.

Sub: negligence of municipal authorities for public parks maintenance
Sir/Madam,

Through the well esteemed columns of your local newspaper, I want to draw the kind attention of the Municipal Authority Officers towards the negligence being implemented in the maintenance of 2 main parks in our locality. The parks have not been cleaned for past 4 months. Even the lighting system does not work in the night. The officers even do not visit the park for inspection. This all has turned the parks as shelters for the undesirable elements of society. These people do spend their time in the parks and play cards, drink, etc. which all has created a nuisance in the area.

Therefore, I hope your newspaper will throw light on the subject concerned so as to enable the residents to take a breath of ecstasy.

Thanking you,

"Patol Babu, Film Star," by Satyajit Ray emphasizes the valuable contribution of a  mentor in changing a negative mind-set into a positive one. Describe how Mr. Pakrashi's advice helps Patol Babu in performing his role.

OR

Time humbles even the greatest of the great. One should cultivate the quality of humility. Describe how time has reduced the mighty Ozymandias to nothing.
SOLUTION:
Mr. Pakrashi was Patol Babu's mentor. He said, "Remember one thing, Patol; however small a part you're offered, never consider it beneath your dignity to accept it." These words influenced Patol Babu a lot and they helped him enact his role with confidence and determination. From these words, Patol Babu drew spirit, energy, inspiration and dignity to enact such a small role. He no more felt his role in the movie to be condescending.

OR

After reading the poem we picture Ozymandias as an arrogant and ambitious king. Ozymandias considered himself to be the best king ever. He was confident that his power and greatness were incomparable. He wanted to boast about his achievements and glory and thought of leaving a mark in the form of a grand statue. His pride and passion are evident in the inscription on the pedestal where he introduces himself as the king of the kings.
Ozymandias' soaring ambition was reduced to nothing because nothing in this world is permanent. Even though he was a great king once, but with passing time, his glory faded. The grand statue built to signify his greatness was also shattered into pieces. Thus, no one remembers how great he was.

OR
Give a pen sketch of Anne's father as a parent ?

(b) Describe Ms. Sullivan's teaching methods ?
OR

a) Anne and Margot, the two sisters were as different as chalk and cheese. While Margot was the conventional, dutiful and obedient elder sister, Anne was the rebellious, independent and vociferous younger sibling. Margot was a delicate girl who spoke little, she was similar to her mother in terms of temperament and disposition while Anne found herself suited to her father's characteristics. She liked to take charge of things while Margot was content in being on the sidelines. However, both the sisters exhibit a strain of resilience and remarkable courage in dealing with the situation. Anne and Margot's relationship in the beginning of the novel is full of conflict because Anne cannot bear to be constantly compared and contrasted against her studious and dedicated sister but gradually we see a softening of her stance and they come to a kind of truce. They learn to understand each other's differences and bond of fellow feeling develops between the two.

Otto Frank was the only member of his immediate family to have survived the Holocaust, dying much later in 1980. Post his marriage to Edith Frank and the birth of their two daughters Margot and Anne, Otto Frank had immigrated to Holland in 1933 due to his Jewish descent and became the managing director of the Dutch Opekta Company. The Diary was published by him in the memory of his daughter. Otto Frank had a remarkable presence of mind and fiercely protective instinct about his family, he was a reassuring and thoughtful figure in their lives. Anne portrayed her father affectionately in The Diary, referring to him as the ‘most adorable father’. Sheconsidered him to be the driving presence in her life but somehow he fell short of the ideal that she had envisaged for him. However, he took a genuine interest in his daughters’ lives and education, being an anchor of support for them and setting an example of being normal and optimistic even under the most extraordinary circumstances. Otto Frank was a man of frugal means, always putting the needs of others before him. A levelheaded man, he exhibited considerable tact and patience in the secret annex taking tough decisions and being respectful towards everyone around him irrespective of their age.

b) Miss Sullivan was a good teacher and also a great human being. She understood Helen's condition and plight really well. She also helped Helen to cope with her handicap. The description of events given below speaks best about it:
Miss Sullivan had taken Helen by the hand across the fields where men were preparing the earth for the seed, to the banks of the Tennessee River. Sitting on the warm grass, she began the first lessons for Helen in the beneficence of nature. Helen learned how the sun and rain make the ground give life to trees that are not only pleasant to the sight but also good for food, how birds build their nest and thrive from land to land. Also, how every creature finds food and shelter. As Helen's knowledge of these things grew, she felt more and more the delight of the world she lived in. Long before she learned to do a sum in arithmetic or describe the shape of the earth, Miss Sullivan had taught her to find the beauty in the fragrant woods, in every blade of grass and in the curves and dimples of her baby sister's hand. She linked her earliest thoughts with nature and made her attuned to the beauty that abounds in the world. Her teaching methods were not par for the course but they believed in the natural capabilities of nature to educate the sportive Helen as the girl herself was so eager to learn from anything around her. Miss Sullivan understood the true capabilities of her student and designed her teaching methods accordingly. When Helen had lost her confidence to write following the Frost Fairy episode, it was Miss Sullivan who consoled her and helped her in every way possible. It was with the hope of restoring Helen's self-confidence that she persuaded Helen to write for the Youth's Companion. This brief account was prophetic in its intent because if Helen had not written this, she would have succumbed to her fears. Helen wrote timidly and fearfully but she persevered as her teacher continued to egg her on. It helped Helen to find her bearings again and opened her up to a life of trial that came with a truer knowledge of life. In her words, she had been living an unconscious life, acted upon by circumstances but from then onwards, she began to take charge with no small measure of help from her teacher. OR

In Helen's opinion, written tests and examinations contributed towards a hurried and nervous reading of texts without comprehension of what one is reading. One's brain became encumbered with a plethora of facts and nuggets of information that had little use. Helen observes that her mind was so full of heterogeneous matter before an exam that she plunged into a state of despair thinking about how to put all of it into order. Helen refers to examinations as the chief bugbears of her college life. This is because she had faced them many times and cast them down, yet they would rise again and take on a menacing shape. This would be until she felt her courage oozing out at her finger ends. The days before these ordeals took place were spent cramming her mind with mystic formula and indigestible dates. This unpalatable diet would force her to wish that books, science and the student herself were buried in the depths of the sea. The person who thought she was prepared was a favoured being in Helen's opinion because examinations always left her perplexed and exasperated.
